    I was also thinking an alligator's back or tail. If not that, then some type of segmented animal's back or tail.

    my first thought was a wall of some kind, but I am guessing a turtles back. 1st visit here, I am far from award winning, I would love to be a student in your class, sounds interesting, even tho I am to old for grade school ;)
